Gamepad support in macOS

I can't get the gamepad example to work in macOS. It works perfectly in Windows, but not in macOS. The http://gamepad-tester.com does not detect anything. Any suggestions?

I happened to run in to the same predicament. From where I stand it looks like all you get on macOS is a USB HID. It may be the case that on macOS gamepad support is in such a sorry state that the OS doesn't really give you a widget to confirm that your USB HID reports as a gamepad and its input signals are working. I'm on an older mac running Big Sur so I can't speak for the newer Apple silicon stuff.

I did get inputs recognized by an application that uses SDL2 to enumerate the device and grab input information. From there it allowed me to create mappings. SDL2 Gamepad Tool. Beyond doing this I don't know how this would help me get the device working in a generic way in any other application, as it seems to rely on other applications using SDL2 for input and updating an environment variable or a text database entry.

I think at least with that I was able to get it working on http://gamepad-tester.com/.

But to actually get it to recognize inputs in my own game application I had to rely on HIDSharpCore. I was able to run automated input tests writing code that would interface with the Arduino through this package.
