linux installation problem

when I run command make in app folder(the last step)
It said cannot find -lcoretrace and exit
how can i solve this problem
i use ubuntu 18.04 server

I finally solved it by specifying the path to the libraries, but then I get another error with a lot of wx libraries, Im using wxWidgets 3.2.4 instead of 3.1.0, could that be the problem?

I think it's a flag issue, but I don't know much about cmake or c++

Hi, I'll share here a successful steb-by-step Ubuntu (24.04) installation. Hope this might help !

Step 0

gcc --version

sudo apt-get install git build-essential cmake libgtk2.0-dev libgl1-mesa-dev mesa-common-dev freeglut3-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev

Step 1

Build wxWidgets 3.2.4 against GTK (see the wxWidgets manual for GTK) :

$ mkdir buildgtk
$ cd buildgtk
$ ../configure --with-gtk
$ make
$ sudo make install
$ sudo ldconfig

Create a symbolic link /usr/local/bin/wx-config-3 that points toward /usr/local/bin/wx-config

Step 2 : clone the SolTrace code repo

mkdir ~/st_dev/
cd ~/st_dev/
for repo in lk wex SolTrace; do git clone https://github.com/NREL/$repo; done
mv SolTrace/parent-dir-CMakeLists.txt CMakeLists.txt

(in the CmakeLists.txt file, modify folrder's name from soltrace to SolTrace)

Step 3 : build SolTrace

Before running this step, check if GUI construction is off in the ~/st_dev/SolTrace/CMakeLists.txt file. Modify to on accordingly so that ~/st_dev/build-soltrace/SolTrace/app/SolTrace actually builds.

mkdir build-soltrace
cd build-soltrace/
export LKDIR="~/st_dev/lk"
export WEXDIR="~/st_dev/wex"
export LDFLAGS="-Wl,--copy-dt-needed-entries"

Step 4 : call soltrace

Finally, call soltrace from anywhere in a terminal.
