Installation issues

Hello, I'm very interested in this project, especially the fountain integrations.

I followed the install steps but I'm not getting a responsive environment in the end. I've opened up an existing .fountain file and there doesn't seem to be any special treatment in neovim. It's like it's just a plaintext file. Even the leader key " " doesn't seem to activate.

Here's what I did:

# backed-up existing neovim configuration file; deleted ~/.config/nvim
git clone https://github.com/MiragianCycle/OVIWrite/ 
mv OVIWrite/nvim ~/.config/nvim
nvim my-file.fountain

Following this I looked into the Arch install instructions, and ran:

sudo pacman -S nodejs python neovim git fzf ripgrep pandoc npm wget

I also tried the pip-based instructions but got an error: Arch doesn't handle installing Python packages this way, in my experience. (Please correct if I'm wrong.) Instead, I tried the normal-for-Arch method of installing the pip packages using pacman and appending python-, e.g.:

pacman -S python-pynvim # https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/python-pynvim/

I tried the same for neovim-remote, but this was not found by pacman. Instead, I installed it from AUR via paru:

paru -S neovim-remote

And this installed successfully.

Unfortunately, none of the above got me up and running. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

I am having similar issues. My environment is different... WLS2 Ubuntu. I am going to spend some cycles today trying to figure it out. I'll post what I find.

Okay, so my first stab at the install I accidentally cloned the repo into a sub-directory, not my HOME. So to fix things, I removed the original OVIWrite nvim directory from .config and deleted the cloned repository in the sub-directory. Starting clean, I made sure I was in my HOME pwd and cloned the OVIWrite repository and then moved the nvim directory: mv OVIWrite/nvim ~/.config/nvim

When running nvim now I get the OVIWrite splashscreen and am able to edit plaintext, markdown, and wiki files with the features of OVIWrite.

Now I can write my poetry in peace.

Following the official documentation for installation, I tried a variety of ways. But so far all have encountered two errors reported at startup.

Error detected while processing C:\Users\myname\AppData\Local\nvim\init.lua:
Invalid plugin spec {

}

Failed to run `config` for orgmode

I checked the nvimorgmode.lua file and there doesn't seem to be any significant errors compared to the recommended setup on the nvimorgmode official website.

The ways I tested include: windows 11, wsl2 ubuntu within windows 11, wsl2 arch within windows 11, android.

Here are the changes I made during the installation:

• To manually install luarocks and lua again after installing the necessary packages. Platform: all platforms I tested.
• Installed python packages and encountered an error message. Need to install with pipx. Or install python-pynvim with pacman.(Same as top.) Platform: windows 11 with wsl2 arch.

I also run checkhealth. let me know if you need more information.

Hi all, 1. I had the same problem, which apparently adds a menu to open mini-templates for a few document types. I could not solve the problem, but I was able to suppress the error by commenting out the menu code. 2. Also have the same message for "Orgmode". I tried commenting the line that calls 'setup_ts_grammar', but that lead to another error message, so I live with it. It's not really a problem for me because I rarely use Orgmode. 3. Finally, markdown-preview.nvim will not load. The message says I have "local changes" in "....local/share/nvim/lazy/markdown- preview.nvim. I don't think I manipulated the plugin in any way, so that's a mystery too. I'd like to solve that one because I would occasionally like to use Markdown.

I had similar errors with unloaded plugins and a lot of red with hererocks....

and a huge list of unloaded plugins.

Solution?

I'm on Linux and had the same issue with hererocks. Tried to install in manually; it installed successfully, but the error persists. Perhaps Lazy expects it in a non-default directory? Some of the unloaded plugins can be configured to load on startup by adding "lazy = false" to the plugin configuration file under .../.config/nvim/lua/plugins/[plugin-name].lua For example, I write with Latex. The Vimtex plugin is not configured to load when a Latex file is opened. If I opened a Latex document I had to load Vimtex manually through Lazy. I added the above to the configuration code in vimtex.lua and it loads on startup now: return { { "lervag/vimtex", lazy = false }, } I also had to do that with goyo.lua--the plugin for "distraction free writing". A lot of the unloaded plugins are probably conditionally loaded--i.e., when you use another plugin that depends on them.

Just those two. There's probably a more correct way to do it, but this worked for me.
