Linux with java 8 - hanging during startup when loading stochchar

Hi all,

As recommended, I changed my system's java version from java 20 to java 8 to avoid the stackoverflow error. However, now startup hangs when it tries loading the stochchar module. No error appears in the terminal or shell. Increasing the memory limit or other suggestions did not help.
