add ability to install this on Yunohost

Hello,

I'd love to learn more about self-hosting and some fundamental of that.
I've decide that I'll give a shot at trying to create a Yunohost app package. As I would love to use your app, I'd like to give it a try. Especially that v1 will soon be out, and that you have a Davinci Resolve pluggin coming.

Do you think I could do that ? Where should I begin to look ? All your informations available are for docker.. (I'm already digging all informations' available on yunohost side.)

Im not familiar with Yunohost and I'm fine with it being on YunoHost whatever as long as it is mentioned that it is community maintained as im not in the position to maintain it over there as well, as im also not sure what that would even mean.
As long as it is offered free there as well im fully okay with you maintaining it over there...

But if you are also not sure how to proceed I would highly recommend just using the docker images and the way to install it that way or the app catalogs which I support right now. Check out the wiki for it.

I'm sorry If I can't be of much help with the ability to get it on YunoHost.

Yunohost is a fully open source plateform maintain by enthusiatic. The package would be on git in the same idea of course, free and with all linked back to your github. Yunohost is low level, it's made to get things easier to host in one way, and easier to learn how to self-host, the other way. I do love it. Without it I couldn't self-host at first, and I wish people will be able to get the app faster / easier.

I'm not sure to proceed. But I'd love to use portainer and the stack version. I just don't have great knowledge there too.

Okay, you might be able to get the dev of YunoHost in the loop I saw that you can request and app at their website as well.

The compose file is the easiest for you i think at this point.

I'm not sure how I can make it easier at this point. If you need specific help or are stuck at one point please let me know, im always here to support the docker image.

The idea for me is really learning. Having an instruction to install it on bare-metal would be great from your side.
Otherwise, I'll dig the docker-compose parameters and try to build it myself, with the help of the yunohost dev community :)

I really wanna learn how to do that. I did looked at the deployment 👍 It's neet and I could add it to my main NAS, waiting for packing :D

ViTransfer is built with the idea of Docker / Container first, as this is the most common and by far the easiest way to set things up. That is also the reason why I do not provide a "bare-metal installation guide".

The ViTransfer application also depends on other services like Redis and PostgreSQL, which are maintained by other projects and are not part of this repository or our Docker image. Setting that up manually would be more hassle, more time-consuming, and more prone to misconfiguration compared to simply running the provided Docker Compose / Podman Quadlets / TrueNAS catalog setup which i have provided in the repo.

Docker / Podman (containers in general) are widely used and supported in both homelab/self-hosted and enterprise environments. Containers are much easier to manage and more flexible than running everything "bare-metal".

I also frequently update the Docker images. Supporting YunoHost would mean that every release would need to be packaged separately, and i would not be able to provide support for that installation method. That responsibility would rest entirely on the maintainer of the YunoHost package.

I would therefore strongly recommend using the Docker images and saving yourself the headache of learning how to package software that already provides an easy container based setup instead of relying on the proprietary packaging system of YunoHost.
Of course you are free to do whatever you want.

**For clarity: Docker / Podman containers are the only officially supported deployment method for ViTransfer.

If someone from the YunoHost community wants to create and maintain a YunoHost package, they are of course free to do so, but it would need to be maintained independently and outside of this repository.**
