desktops_i3 seems flaky

I've had issues with desktops_i3 where the desktop highlight will stop working after a while.

Might be a coincidence but I believe both times it's happened so far (today) I've just come out of a computer suspend. I haven't debugged this yet, I've instead hacked the regular desktops widget to work with i3 for the time being.

I think the widget will stop working when the connection to the ipc socket is lost, such as when i3 restarts. The library used for communication with i3 will not automatically reconnect in this case. The connection may need to be reinitialized when the "ipc-disconnect" signal is emitted.

It could also be some kind of threading issue. It's hard to say without more info.
