As a developer I need to know the basics on Cassandra and Spark. I need this information to implement the features we are proposing to use.

Currently reading "Cassandra: the definitive guide", and they say "Although you can do it, and that’s acceptable for getting up to speed on how it works, you quickly realize that you’ll need multiple machines to really realize any benefit from running Cassandra"

Ugh.
