[feature] Metal GPU Support Inside VM

In the original wp https://github.com/wh1te4ever/super-tart-vphone-writeup, it tries to solve the Metal problem. I tested the same code:

I confirmed this by compiling and running a minimal Xcode project stub within the VM that calls MTLCreateSystemDefaultDevice(). The returned device was non-null, which shows Metal is available in the virtualised environment.

If metal is available inside the VM, why is the VM still super laggy graphically?

I get extremely good performance, Can you provide more information on the graphically lag?

Sorry for my late response! I'll get a screen recording later tonight, I have to recreate the VM.

And my mac is certainly not weak, either. M1 Pro, 32GB ram. The lag does seem to get better with time, as shown in the video. Upon reboot, however, the same lag happens. It never fully goes away either.

This doesn't seem terrible at all. Considering this is emulation going through the Virtualisation layer and other components.

Yeah, it's still perfectly usable. My query was more of a curiosity. It's honestly quote impressive what this project does, all things considered.
