Email Setup - Forced UN/PW

Hi,

I am keen to test this software, however when running through the setup it FORCES you to enter the email SMTP server username and password. I am sure you are aware of services that do not require sending UN/PW to authenticate (ie, when using ISP mail server on the ISP internet service).

I cannot get past this stage as I have no need to enter the UN/PW. I click cancel and tells me it wont continue unless its all filled in, do i want to quit. When i click yes the program just starts and stops indefinitely pegging the CPU to the max. I was able to end the OnGuard task to fix the CPU usage.

Let me know if you can fix this or need more information.

The next release will have that change. In fact, you can download it directly from GitHub, but you need to go into the Installer folder here: https://github.com/Ken98045/On-Guard/tree/master/src/Installer/Setup. It is not a “release” because it is a work in progress. I believe that everything works correctly but I can’t guarantee that. If you try it let me know one way or the other if it works for you. Thanks Ken, worked a treat and it remembered the camera settings I set from before. Looks like great software and I have tested 1 camera with 6 zones and seems to be working well.

Just a couple of suggestions if possible:

1. Is it possible to list multiple Deepstack servers for quicker analysis/image queuing ? (Idea borrowed from VorlonCD's AITool)
2. Is it possible to add a MQTT Last will feature so I can keep track if OnGuard is actually running? I have had it crash a few times when using it. Idea again borrowed from AITool Request - AI Tool Status VorlonCD/bi-aidetection#131
3. Could you add a logging section that shows: current images in queue, any AI queue failures, and image processing time? I am finding that sometimes the end notification is slow and Iam trying to track down whether its BI motion sensor, AI processing or MQTT alert which is slow so having a log would be helpful.

The CPU version of DeepStack has pretty much been bound by the high CPU use, so I don’t know what multiple versions of DeepStack accomplishes unless they are on different machines. Not too many people have the luxury of having multiple machines available to them. The new Windows GPU version is so fast (150 – 350ms) I don’t get any noticeable backlog with a frame rate of about 3 per second, and I don’t think 5 per second would be an issue either. I don’t know what your image frame rate is though. 2. Is it possible to add a MQTT Last will feature so I can keep track if OnGuard is actually running? I have had it crash a few times when using it. Idea again borrowed from AITool VorlonCD/bi-aidetection#131 <VorlonCD/bi-aidetection#131> I personally don’t use MQTT. I just added it for others. I’m not familiar with Vorlon’s program. If you will describe further what you are trying to accomplish I’ll look into it. I think I understand what you want but I’m not certain. While there are plenty of UI related crashes at times (I am working on these) I have never actually had very, very few runtime crashes in processing several hundred thousand images in spite of testing as I develop new features. If there is a specific crash that is occurring please let me know. I believe that the version you have has some of the error handling disabled because it is pre-release. Once I am able to get a release version out please report any crashes (they should be reported in a UI screen). 3. 1. Currently I have 8 4K cameras and need to install another 4. The response ranges between 150ms-1second per image but ussually around 350-500ms with docker GPU. The issue and the thought process behind the request is that when multiple cameras start detecting motion it overwhelms Deepstack and the analysis can be delayed by multiple seconds as images queue up. This is especially true in windy conditions or at night time when i have the sensitivity dialed right up. By allowing multiple Deepstack instances it spreads the load. Perhaps at the camera level we could decide whether to use the global Deepstack server or provide details for a different one?

2. The crashes I am not concerned about as they have only happened while using the software, like when using continuous video or changing between images. However having a status message will allow me to see and automate actions/notifications in Home Assistant if OnGuard is down - say after a reboot or freak crash etc. Saves me from having to login to the Blue Iris PC to check if its running. I am no expert so here is the gist of the MQTT LWT feature: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17270863/mqtt-what-is-the-purpose-or-usage-of-last-will-testament - Essentially when OnGuard connects to the MQTT server it sends the LWT and if it goes offline the MQTT server sends the offline message (which i would subscribe to in Home Assistant).

I think (but can’t prove) that Docker adds some (small) overhead. That’s a lot of cameras! I will try to get the multiple DeepStack support in within a week or two. I’ll need to think about it a bit. Thanks for fast action, though either I am doing something weird or it is not updating properly. I have downloaded and installed: https://github.com/Ken98045/On-Guard/releases/download/1.6.1/OnGuardRelease.zip however OnGaurd is still showing this version:

And I cannot see anywhere to update the DeepStack servers.
Do i need to uninstall/reinstall? - If so will I lose my current config?

It should be under application settings. I haven’t been perfect about updating the about window. I’ll take another look and make sure you have the correct version but it doesn’t look correct

That is definitely the wrong version. To be clear, the version that is a “Release” on Github is not the version you should get. Uninstall the old version from the Control Panel first. This is a “pre-release/Beta at: https://github.com/Ken98045/On-Guard/releases/tag/1.6.1 Download OnGuardRelease.zip. Extract the files and run setup. BTW, I did update this so that the version number is correct: 1.6.1 is in the help/about file. Sorry about the delay, have not been on a PC.

Ok so i have installed the latest version (1.7.1), re-setup the zones and added multiple deepstack servers. All seems to be working well so far. Thanks!
