Both Windows 11 Defender (stock) and Malwarebytes (5.2.10.182) are detecting Malware.AI within SpriteSheetMaker.exe from the .zip.
Unsure if it's a legit issue that needs to be handled or something requiring reaching out to the virus vendors and whitelisting whatever is being generated in the EXE.

The issue is that it's a self-extracting exe and all anti-viruses hate those. You are welcome to run the source code yourself which I always suggest instead of blindly trusting people. I have posted a virus scan in the releases if you want to look at it. When I compile this even my own anti-virus tries to warn me of the self-extracting exe and I compiled the darn thing. XD

This is because of the unsigned certificate used when making the exe and code signing costs $100 a year which i ain't doing for a simple python script. Welcome to the world of python to windows binary. It's a pain in the butt.

I'd hope there is a way to do this without a certificate (I build local C++ based EXEs all the time with VS2022 and no issues.)
Manually extracting the EXE will still raise issues with both Defender and Malware bytes, so it's not just Microsoft flagging it (even if it is a false positive.)

In any case, it's the end result that will be problematic for anyone who downloads this to Windows 11 since the OS peeks in the .ZIP and automatically deletes it. If I really want to give it a spin, I'll see about setting up a python environment and trying it from source. I can't say everyone (e.g., some of the artists I work with) has the technical knowledge and patience to do this though.

There is a huge difference between C++ and Python. Python is not meant to be an executable and meant to have an interrupter making the code usable across multiple OS while C++ is complied (at least in VS2022) to run on windows environment. Since this is the fact, To make a python script work as an executable you have to use pyinstaller. https://pyinstaller.org/en/stable/

Unfortunately the way it makes the exe just sets off anti-virus programs. Idk the true details but from what i have read is it has a lot to do with being unsigned or some bs like that. It's a very well known issue with py to exe.

This is only coded with one python lib and not hard to set up, artists are always welcome to dish out money for the commercial route instead of going open source. Going open-source you are expected to jump through hoops. I do have Glue-it available but who knows when that will no longer work since it's so old.
