Infinite loop of "Could not find model <model> in local cache"

My VSCode was running very slow and occasionally becoming unresponsive, and I noticed in the Extension Host output what appears to be an infinite loop of errors from Agent Maestro failing to find each model in the cache and then retrying.

Disabling the extension causes the error logs to stop and VSCode becomes responsive like normal. Re-enabling it causes the issue again. Restarting VSCode did not make a difference.

Hi @gordonotspanish . From the logs, Agent Maestro called vscode.lm.selectChatModels to fetch available chat models and hit an error. "[LanguageModelProxy]" is VS Code’s internal class. I can’t reproduce this locally. It looks like repeated requests hit the Agent Maestro server, causing repeated model fetches; the issue may be in the GitHub Copilot Chat extension or its backing API. Could you check both Agent Maestro and GitHub Copilot Chat logs for more clues?

In the Window logs, I can see from time to time it eventually restarts the ExtensionHost process due to unresponsiveness like this:

The extension enforces a singleton by checking port availability. This log indicates that another VS Code window was opened earlier and its proxy server is still running on that port. Could you check the logs in that other window?

Alternatively, a zombie VS Code process may be holding the port. You can verify with lsof -i :23333.

Hi @Joouis, sorry for my slow response. I was out for a few days.

Coming back to this today, I restarted VSCode again, and it updated to 1.110.0, and since then I haven't seen the issue anymore. Not sure if it was related to that update or if it was just a zombie process like you mentioned. I'll report back if I see it repro again.
