Smarter screen saver (wear leveling)

I've been contemplating whether there might be a way to rescue already damaged displays and/or prevent uneven wear beyond that which is possible using pixel shift by incorporating a screen saver that runs periodically. Perhaps a sequence of repeating patterns or something of that nature would help? Either way, an extension point for the application to include these sequences would be helpful.

For the case of "smoothing out" wear on already damaged displays, there is to my knowledge no way to detect how much pixels are "worn out" on the device over the USB interface. The only workaround I can imagine is taking a photo of the display and using info from that to then blast the screen. It would in a sense damage the screen further, so you would need to turn up brightness afterwards to reach the same light levels as when new. I'm a bit scared of doing this, but it's a solution that could work. I think it'd be better as an external tool than built into ggoled itself.

The app itself could keep track of which pixels it's using the most and use that for more intelligent pixel shift and something like a screensaver like you suggest. I had the idea of doing this later on, which is why the current screen shift is only called "Simple", but it's quite a bit of effort to do well, so it just hasn't happened yet.
