Description

I use $mainMod + Shift + S to take screenshots. I want to annotate the image, but swappy doesn’t trigger the annotation function; it only copies the screenshot to the clipboard. What should I do?

But satty is the one that allowed for annotations. Which isn't in the ubuntu 25.10 (nor even 26.04) repos

You can manually install it and modify the binding to use satty instead

bindd = SUPER_SHIFT, S, Screenshot and Annotate with Satty, exec, grim -g "$(slurp)" - | satty --filename - --save-after-copy --output-filename ~/Pictures/Screenshots/satty-$(date +%Y%m%d-%H%M%S).png

Make sure you have these installed

sudo apt install libgtk-4-dev libadwaita-1-dev

There have been updates on the new site for the dotfiles. You also should upgrade to the current version

Are you on the current version from Linux Beginnings or the older Jak dotfiles? With current files swappy is working for me

Yes, pull the latest version, even execute the script ./install.sh reinstalled.

Well that's not POSIX compliant and often causes issues with scripts. The script for swappy creates a popup to open the editor. That's probably where your issue lies
