[New Benchmark] - FNG Radiation Bulk SS Shield Experiment with OpenMC #452

@Radiation-Transport

Description

@Radiation-Transport

Is the new benchmark computational or experimental?

  • Computational
  • Experimental

Is this a MultiTest or a normal Test?

It should be a single.

Give a concise description of the benchmark

The SS Bulk Shield Benchmark Experiment (NEA-1553/54) at the Frascati Neutron Generator studied neutron penetration through a large (up to 60 cm) block of AISI 316 stainless steel to provide benchmark data for validating neutron transport calculations in fusion reactor components. A 14 MeV neutron source irradiated activation foils at different depths, and measured reaction rates were compared to calculated values to assess material shielding performance and code accuracy.

Helium production to be included within the different parameter analysed.

Does the benchmark need new types of plots?

No.

Can the benchmark be used for all codes implemented in JADE or for a specific subset?

This is for the OpenMC implementation.

Can inputs of this benchmark be freely re-distributed?

  • yes
  • no

If no, please specify who will be able to access the inputs.
SINBAD users.

Is any of the existing general classes suitable for this benchmark?

Not sure.

Can experimental data of this benchmark be freely re-distributed?

  • yes
  • no

If no, please specify who will be able to access the experimental data.
SINBAD users.
