Pagination link should become current as soon as it is updated

Currently when a pagination link is clicked, it doesn't become active until its relative step has finished animating in. To provide the user a more immediate result, the pagination link should immediately become currently upon click/tap.

Perhaps also consider an option to allow devs when this should occur.
