JLRouter compatibility and if it is definitely included in the new Joomla versions

@Hackwar or @mbabker so I have read the new router Joomlager Router will not be included in Joomla, but I am doing tests on localhost and I see that depending on the version if it is included and in others it is not.

In joomla 3.7 beta 3 if the new router is included by default.
In joomla 3.7 rc2 or Joomla 3.8 dev the new router is not included.
In joomla 4.0 dev is included by default the new router.

What I do not really understand is whether it will be included by default or not in the stable version 3.7 or 3.8.

As is the process in the version that does not include the new router, will we have to install the jlrouter separately as an external plugin?.

Or if the version includes the new router that is activated from the global configuration - articles - Integration, we will not have to install the plugin separately and if we installed it would happen, since in Joomla 4.0 dev only has the activation of the Not ID in URLs, but you do not have the same options as your plugin if we install it separately.

How can we know this or if it will be compatible its external plugin or as we will have to act with the plugin that includes the package Joomla by default ?.

This is really important to know to do any project that we want to do with joomla 3.7, 3.8 or 4.0.

We need to know if it will be compatible.

As previously mentioned if your jrouter is definitely the manager of creating the friendly URLs within the Joomla sites, all new Joomla projects will work with the jlrouter and will not install any component to generate external SEFURL.

As noted in https://developer.joomla.org/news/674-statement-about-the-new-router-feature-for-3-7-0.html the router UI options are not being included into 3.7; the code is all there and you could core hack to enable it if really desired (same way you could the old sef_advanced parameter in 1.6 up).

The router is being included in 3.8 and last weekend I reverted the commits in that branch which hid the UI options, unless someone did a bad branch merge or went behind me and reverted my reverts the router options are available now in the 3.8 branch.

As I wrote in other places, I'm not going to hold my breath for the router to be part of 3.8, since I was promised that it would be part of the next version of Joomla since Joomla 3.3. I also wont promise you that URLs will be compatible, etc., because I don't have power over what Joomla accepts or not. If someone comes along and makes a "great" proposition to make all URLs "/cat-[number]" and the project accepts that, then that will be the case, but I have no power over this.

I can only say that my router is largely compatible with the current URLs and improves the current URLs. It is not perfect, it only fixes the most glaring issues and there is lots of stuff that can still be improved, but it does what can be done in 3.x. For all other improvements, we have to wait for 4.0 to fix this, since we can not be B/C for this.

4.0 does not have so many options since the new router is the only router that will be available and the 404 setting will be set to maximum all the time.

The menu system is the main part of Joomla. This defines which component to use and we are completely dependend on this. Joomla will (hopefully) never change this. If you don't like this system, then please use Drupal. They have the alternative to our system, namely creating nodes (=menu items) for everything.

Since this is not a bug in my router and discussing/ranting here is pretty useless, since just me and maybe now Michael is reading this, I'm closing this issue here. If you want to discuss this, go to the joomla-dev-cms google group and start a discussion there.

@Hackwar Thanks again for your response.
I have tried the JLRouter separately and it works in Joomla 3.6.5, except for the comment "Adds Suffix to URL" in the branch 3.8-dev and 4.0-dev happens the same, the modern Router works except with the "Adds Suffix to URL ". Hopefully everything comes to fruition and those responsible in Joomla will accept their work as the definitive router in the next Joomla versions.
