Failure to Install: Getting requirements to build wheel did not run successfully.

I tried to install macos-compose on my M1 mac, but it failed for some reason.

I tried upgrading pip, as suggested by the output, but I'm still seeing the error.

I have Python 3.11.3.

Thanks for making macos-compose. Please let me know if there are any other details you'd like, or things you'd suggest.

There seems to be an issue with pyyaml.
Installing an old version with pip3 install --user pyyaml==5.3.1 first did the trick for me.

There are 6 different solutions proposed on the page linked by @whnr above, and his answer comes from the solution "Downgrade PyYAML".

I was able to install using the solution "Limit the Cython version":

pip install 'cython<3.0.0' wheel
pip install 'pyyaml==5.4.1' --no-build-isolation
PIP_CONSTRAINT=<( echo 'cython<3' ) pip install gen-compose
