Description
Summary
It would be ideal if Gaffer could appear under its own distinct process name on Windows — for example, gaffer.exe — similar to how it already appears as gaffer on Linux.
Why this matters
On Windows, the Gaffer process shows up as python.exe in Task Manager and is identified as such by other applications. This causes practical issues for tools that rely on process names to provide context-aware functionality. For example:
- Quicker (a context-sensitive automation tool) can only recognize Gaffer as
python.exe, making it impossible to assign Gaffer-specific shortcuts.
- The Wacom tablet driver also identifies Gaffer as
python.exe, so application-specific pen or brush settings are hard to apply.
It would be nice for automation, customization, and process identification on Windows if this could be considered.
