Python spam.py doesn't work

I have python installed but it says
'python' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Open Command Prompt (cmd) and type the command "python" into the console. If it displays your version of python (eg. "Python 3.11.9") followed by some other gibberish then you have installed python correctly. Otherwise you will need to install it properly - you can download the latest versions of python here: https://www.python.org/downloads/
