Description
FaH has released 8.4 and has this listed as the preferred download on https://foldingathome.org/start-folding/. Some of the discussion of 8.x in https://foldingathome.org/guides/v8-4-client-guide/ makes it sound like it's still in beta, but that also says, "You can still download the older v7 releases on the v7 download page but that is no longer recommended."
fah-gpu recommends using the latest NVIDIA GPU drivers, but the last update to the dockerfile references 460.x+ and Cuda 11.2 (readme.md still says Cuda 9). Latest is now 570 and Cuda 12.8, and I am starting to suspect that part of the reason I'm having problems with repeated failures on GPU WUs since upgrading the host OS to Ubuntu 22 from 20, which upgraded drivers and libraries, is the stretch between versions expected by the container and available from the host if one installs the latest drivers and container toolkit as recommended. Specifically, I think some WUs are depending on newer versions of Cuda and something between the container and the libraries isn't making that available or isn't releasing it properly during cleanup so it can't be used for the next WU.
So it might be worthwhile to incorporate updates to both the client and nvidia libraries.
edit to add - I am opening a separate issue about the problems with core 0x24
