In software.md, you recommend,

Make sure the Allow applications downloaded from: is set to Anywhere.

Consider recommending another approach such as the following:
If you're prevented from running software due to an unknown developer, right click on the application (or ctrl + click), and select, "Open". You will then be prompted to confirm but will be able to run the software.
