Potential Feature: Multiple Linked Videos

Right now, there is a single spot on an Exicon entry to paste a link to a video. Some PAX have suggested it would be nice to be able to have multiple links per entry. Let's put it to a vote. Please comment here if you would like 1 video link per Exicon entry or multiple. ("Multiple" would be any number of links from 0 to infinity (within reason)).

I'd like to keep it at one video per Exicon entry. I like having a "source of truth".

I see value in having multiple links. Allow more people to participate; Have different "flavors" or emphases on the same workout. I think in theory I'm ok with it. But my OCD nature wants there to be one way to do it. 😄

My vote is for at least three... There are a lot of PAX-created videos of the same thing. Some articulate the exercise better, others show better form. But it's all subjective.

+1 for many videos in a minimal playlist or carousel format.

Is a burpee with a clap or not? Do hand release merkins spread the hands out in a T or not?

I like the idea of one source of truth but also see the benefit of having up to three.

Would we need mutiple descriptions for each if they are truly different in nature but still the same name?

Here is an example... The Breakdance Merkin

Two similar takes on the same exercise. When it is clearly a different exercise, I think it should have a new entry. But when they are this close, it is a mess to go through as a user with many duplicates.

Same with the Burpee example with and without the clap. It makes no sense to me to have two entries... The multiple variations should be given in the description.

Fair point. Maybe we implement multiple video links and then admins commit to being consistent on how variations are documented. I vote yes on multiple videos.

It might be more work, but multiple linked videos can effectively be achieved with public YT playlists (assuming all the linked vids are YT in the first place).

Then instead of linking to any one video, each entry is simply linked to a single YT playlist (IDK, do we have a f3 nation channel?)?

Then each playlist just has the one or many vids added to it.

Playlists for potentially thousands of exercises would be unmanageable, especially with a team of admins having to coordinate updates. Thanks, Steve

I tend to agree with you if we are thinking about it manually, but they can be created via API. Then it's just a matter of adding any new video per exercise onto them.
