Here's a lesson I learned, and an enhancement suggestion. I accidentally reversed the power on VIN for less than 1 second. It didn't fry my $7 Uno knock-off, but I heard it instantly pop the microscopic MCP16311 DC-DC converter on my $99 hamshield. That part is virtually impossible to replace. I recommend adding a blocking diode or fuse between the VIN pin and the rest of the board to save someone else the grief.
