Keyword search does not display more than 1 word

After you search for "foo bar" only "foo" will appear in the search box when displaying results. Need to determine if this impacts filtering: 3 records "foo" "bar" and "foo bar". search "foo bar" should have only 1 hit, search "foo" should have 2 hits, and search "bar" should have 2 hits.
