Implement reset for unresponsive devices

SerialDevice should closePort(), openPort() if a device is not confirming a command. Certain devices incompatible with this scheme, like the TMP controller, need to be able to override this behavior in their own subclass.

Edited: auto-reset could cause problems. A manual reset option seems more prudent.
