Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
No, this isn't related to a problem. Only a request that I think would be neat to have.
Describe the solution you'd like
The client could have a option within the user clients settings to enable this optional plugin. It would be off by default, but could be toggled for users whom wish to login with their GOG accounts.

Additional context
Comet is an implementation of GOG Galaxy services. It lets you login on Linux and other systems with third-party applications that launch your GOG games. It then enables the ability to use GOG Galaxy functions such as leaderboards, multiplayer, overlays, GOG Online status, achievements, and future functionalities like game invites and other quality features. Comet currently is built into the Heroic Games Lanucher and can also be used with Lutris or Wyvern as a optional plugin.
To support this you would need to get Comet to trigger your client as a plugin for say Lutris, you run "comet --from-lutris --username " to get it to trigger. Though it seems the people running Comet are open to multiple clients using it as it already supports three via that command.
My Thoughts
As for how this all works and why it should be optional via a toggle. I believe you need the game in your GOG account to use some of the features, specially achievements and the likes of that. Though, if you were sharing your games and a family member or friend wished to buy the game, they could pick up where they left off in this client and start using these features. Instead of needing to change to another client and start their game over.
I could see this feature as a mild incentive to have people legit purchase their own copies of games. While being able to escape buggy clients like GOG Galaxy and not have to use other third-party clients. All while giving the users two options for multiplayer, sort of the option to switch to your future P2P servers and the option to switch to the legit GOG Galaxy API servers,
