Background Color, black?

It appears that the default for body is background-color: dimgray
Using @media for user systems that are dark mode the background-color: black and color: white

When my browser is in dark mode it showed dimgray and only changed when I changed my system preferences.

Is the intent that the background is always black or was this a placeholder until the striped background in the figma is added?
