how do I install modules in v3? #6

Hi,
I downloaded the module from the releases page and added it to the modules folder, also added the metadata.json line to the vaults.json file, but it doesn't seem to work and breaks spotify (it works without that line). Also when I replaced the current vault.json file with the one in source.zip, it breaks too. Am I doing something wrong here, your help is much appreciated. Also, how do I install sort-by-playcount extension?
