Description
The problem you're addressing (if any)
Windows continuously places itself on top of the boot options. This is inconvenient for those who are dual-booting Linux+Windows.
Describe the solution you'd like
It would be nice if there would be an option to lock the boot options: to keep the boot list as it is at that moment, without an OS being able to change it.
Where is the value to a user, and who might that user be?
Faster switching between OSes, since most Linux distros offer a GRUB menu to let the end user choose what OS to start. Or one could install rEFInd and make sure that it is on top of the boot list, and remains there with this feature.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Pressing F7 every time the laptop boots. But that's not very user friendly.
Additional context
Would enabling fast boot already do this? If so, we can close the issue. It would be plausible and should improve boot times since there is no longer need to search for new boot options during startup.
