This is probably the kind of thing that should be done using some Pango trickery. A specific letter at a calculated visual offset in each word will need to be aligned into the exact same fixed position but I don't know how to do that and I'm still busy with #35 plus some other things

This is a really good idea! I'll mark this as "help wanted" for now and, if nobody else want to try their hand at it, I'll try to figure out how to do that :)
