I think this may be a common question since most people are at least somewhat financially motivated.
Possible answers:
- Start a project with fellow members which raises capital
- Start a project with fellow members which generates revenue
- Get hired by a fellow member to work on their project
- Gain exposure to other prominent companies and get hired by them
- By association with the group you are more reputable (resume booster)
- Build valuable skills for your next position or for a promotion
- Get opportunities to invest in early stage projects
