select to enable single value

I think Spool.select and Patch.select should accept a single value. For example

patch.select(distance=10)

Currently raises a ParameterError with the message "Range values must be a tuple or slice.". It would be nice to enable an exact lookup in these cases (eg return distances that are exactly 10).
