Hi Matt,

Below are some notes I took while I was reading. I think you have a nice start, but you should include more description & narrative of your data as well as more nuanced research questions. Please let me know if you have any questions.

• Could you describe the data more in depth? That is, how were the data collected? Who was sampled? Is it restricted solely to the US? It’s a good dataset, but the reader should know more about exactly what these data are.
  • Are all the observations from employees in software companies? That’s what your intro suggests.
• You should be more concrete about the research questions you are asking. For example, you might ask to what extent salary can be explain by experience, education, etc.
• Mean and Median Salary by Age
  • This plot is a bit cumbersome. Was there a reason you didn’t just plot the raw data?
  • If you keep this plot (and I would suggest a scatterplot instead), please re-label and re-title the legend.
• Mean and Median Salary by Education level
  • I might just split this into two plots. One using mean, and the other using median
  • Also please reorder the x axis.
  • What kind of titles do recent PhD graduates have? Are any of them in academia? That would explain the lower salaries. Something to look into.
