Sorry for the late reply. I don't remember I just recreated a sperate repo with the fix. A lot of the issues were in code where I had to scrap them.. just go to my profile and try using that repo and see if it helps

This project was made on a very specific mingw environment for an industrial setup, I was not expecting this repo to get the attention it got lmao

The most problematic issue I detected is that dlls no longer work after I upload them to Github, I did this so anyone who tried to use the repo could use it without having to look for the dlls on the fingerprint reader driver files but backfired. I no longer have access to those files so its hard to redo the setup on another machine for testing and further development of this project...

On the good side, I can tell you this project worked at the end, so its very posible to interact with the uareu readers using python, it just need some tinkering and spending a long time reading the docs for the C++ library

I don't see any changes on your fork or any similar repo... if you made improvements or found a more compatible structure for the wrapper I would love to have a look 👀

Make it sure, you install mingw64 and update this tools, and path on c:/mingw/, and install openssl path on c:/openssl/
and fix the dll comman, make it locate the exact path of -i and -ls, .h extension.

last, install latest driver of Digitalpersona, and install the old driver attached on this repo.

@Coolhatena I wasnt able to make changescoz of some merging issues so i just recreated the repo instead of forking it.....

1. Translated uareu4500.cpp from Spanish to English

Console strings: All std::cout and std::cerr messages (e.g., "Libreria abierta exitosamente" → "Library opened successfully").

Comments: All explanatory comments were translated to English in a meaningful way (not word-for-word, but contextually correct).

Commented-out print statements: Even lines like

// std::cout << "Contenido del FMD (hexadecimal): ";

were translated for consistency.

Why:
This makes logs readable in English without changing the logic or behavior of the code.

2. Updated DLL build process

Original repo assumed compilation on Windows, often 32-bit or with MSVC.

We switched to portable MinGW64 static linking:

Reason: This produces a DLL that can run on any 64-bit Windows without requiring OpenSSL or GCC libraries installed.

Changes in repo:

Added instructions for static linking.

Made sure OpenSSL paths are correctly referenced in MinGW64.

3. Verified correct exported functions in uareu4500.dll

Original repo had references to non-existent or assumed functions like getComparisonMatching, compareFMDStrings.

We made sure only the actual exported functions are called:

capture_fid

python_read_fingerprint_and_get_base64_string

python_compare_base64_string_with_finger

transform_fid_to_fmd

save_fmd / read_fmd_from_file

This required aligning uareu4500.py with real DLL exports.

4. Updated uareu4500.py

Ensured ctypes definitions match the actual DLL exports.

fingerprint_lib.python_read_fingerprint_and_get_base64_string.restype = c_char_p
fingerprint_lib.python_compare_base64_string_with_finger.argtypes = [c_char_p]
fingerprint_lib.python_compare_base64_string_with_finger.restype = c_int

Removed placeholder or fake functions that were previously used for comparison.

Ensured functions like getFingerReadingAsBase64String and compareBase64StringWithFingerReading call the real DLL functions.

5. Verified test_lib.py

Left largely intact, but clarified its usage:

Calls the real Python functions.

Removed any assumptions about fake or non-existent comparison functions.

Added explicit comments to explain the flow:

Capture fingerprint → get Base64 string

Compare Base64 string with new scan

6. Fixed device architecture issues

Original repo had 32-bit DLLs/libraries referenced (dpfpdd.lib, dpfj.lib) which failed on 64-bit machines.

We ensured:

All dpfpdd and dpfj libs used are x64

OpenSSL is referenced for 64-bit (/c/Program Files/OpenSSL-Win64/)

MinGW64 is used to compile everything 64-bit

Why: Without this, calls to the DLL would crash or give access violation errors.

7. Ensured portable build

By statically linking OpenSSL, libgcc, and libstdc++:

The DLL works without requiring OpenSSL installed.

Can run on any Windows 64-bit machine.

Dynamic Windows libraries (ws2_32, crypt32) are the only runtime dependencies.
