In the spirit of open source, I'd personally love to see this project implement auth with an open source package e.g. next-auth or lucia-auth.

I love Clerk and have used it in the past for its ease. But if we're gonna be open source, let's go all the way! 😀

I'd be willing to give this a first pass, but would love thoughts before going all in.

Love the project, and excited to dive deeper into it!

We actually had next-auth to start with. You can checkout the earlier repos. Maybe we should make it so people can choose? 🤔

Interesting! Why the switch?

I guess it depends how you expect people to use the project.

Standing up an instance just for friends and family to use and connect to? Clerk is easy

Opening up to actual users in some way? I'd prefer to manage auth myself

Haven't thought through the headaches of maintaining both methods, but I'm sure there's some oddities that would not be fun

Mainly to have the authentication logic centralized in one place totally managed as well as not having any reference of the user on our database other than the clerk user id
