Petition Page #4
Description
Who is this page for?
Legislators and Members of Parliament (MPs)
Legislators will be lobbied and asked to view the petition to see how many people support the deaf community and want to create a new ministry. This will also show that if the legislator or MP supports the deaf community, the deaf community will likely also support them.
Big D (d/DAC) and Little D (d/Deaf)
Little D (d/Deaf) are people who suffer from hearing loss in a medical sense, but do not necessarily consider themselves to be members of the Deaf community. Big D (d/DAC) are those who, regardless of hearing capabilities, consider themselves to be part of the deaf community.
Both Big D and Little D members will want to visit this page to see what the legislation is, and what benefits they can potentially have if this legislation comes to pass.
General Public
People who are not part of any of the aforementioned groups will be interested in the page as well. Some will be interested in the campaign regardless of which communities they identify with, and will want to support the campaign. It is also important for them to understand what the budgetary concerns are if this petition is successful, and how it will fit in with the current government.
What is the purpose of this page?
- To raise awareness and understanding of the deaf community (both big D and little d)
- Push the agenda of making the Government of Canada create a ministry for the deaf community
