Steps to Reproduce

1. Put plugin at Engine folder in plugins
2. Open Editor
3. Fail and you got this:

The following modules are missing or built with a different engine version:

McpAutomationBridge

Would you like to rebuild them now?

Another case, if you try to not regenerate:

Plugin 'McpAutomationBridge' failed to load because module 'McpAutomationBridge' could not be found. Please ensure the plugin is properly installed, otherwise consider disabling the plugin for this project.

Also, did you delete the old plugin folder before adding the new plugin folder?

+1 for this as I'm having the issue as well. Just trying this for the first time tonight so I should be using the latest version. I'm using an older, but supposedly still supported version of the UE5 (5.4.4) and I get this when opening the project after copying the plugin folder into the project folder as instructed:

Same error as the OP, but on MacOS, Node.js version = 23.10, and using Claude Code as the MCP client.

This is actually expected behavior in Unreal Engine when installing a local plugin. When it asks to rebuild, go ahead and click Yes.

After the rebuild completes, a plugin load error will appear—don't worry, this is completely normal. Just close and reopen your project. The plugin should load correctly on the second try.

If the plugin still doesn't load on the second attempt and gives you errors, could you please share your log file? You can find it at:
[ProjectName]/Saved/Logs/[ProjectName].log

That will help me identify exactly what's causing the issue. Let me know how it goes!

Ok, I tried this again to no avail. Attached is my log file it case it proves useful. After trying the load on second attempt, I still got errors.

Is usually occuring when you put the plugin in a .uproject' plugin folder before it ever got compiled.
-> If this is the case, rightclick .uproject and generate vs files directly after you copied the plugin. Doubleclick .uproject and on the popup hit rebuild.

This is confirmed to work on 5.7.2 as of 22.02.206. Tested on a fresh C++ project.
