Appended-to-prepended after Ctrl+Backspace

Hello, 
When I hit Ctrl+Backspace, most of the time it works fine. 
However, whenever I Ctrl+Backspace over any PUNCTUATION, then the space before the cursor disappears permanently

The only solution I've found is to press the Right Arrow after deleting any punctuation. This seems to restore the cursor spacing back to its original "appended" state.
