split connected components when converting to mesh

should we add a functionality to split the connected components before mesh generation (instead of processing only the largest one)?
Then users could input a full tomogram, which is then split and can be processed separately.

Hello! Im testing out the new Membrain V2 and it seems that only the largest connected component is being converted into a mesh for surforama. I have data of a couple of virions and would like to be able to visualize each virion this way but Im unsure of how to get the segmentation to split each virion into its own segmentation. Ive tried 'membrain components' but it doesnt seem to split my segmentation, instead it returns a file with the name ''_components.mrc.

Sorry for getting back so late, this completely slipped through for me.
The membrain components functionality does split your segmentations into separate connected components, but does not store separate files for each. Instead, it assigns a different integer label to each component. This means, most likely your output .mrc file will have multiple integer values and each should ideally correspond to a different component.
So in order to use this output for membrain-pick, you will only need to save out all separate integer values as a separate .mrc segmentation file.

Alternatively, we do have this functionality implemented in our Napari plugin, where you can also directly visualize and select the segmentations you would like to save out:
