So I'm not sure if this is more of an ESC suggestion or NSC, but I haven't seen this anywhere else so here goes. Essentially what I have in mind is a projectile weapon using the gravity snare behavior as a way to reduce the power of massing large numbers of ships in 1 sector, and the power of the weapon would scale with the number of ships in that system.

Ideally this would result in something similar to emergency disengagement mechanic to prevent it from being an I-win button, where some percentage of ships are destroyed but most are damaged (again scaling with numbers, but maybe 50% as a ceiling). I'm sure this would require a lot of math in order to balance, but it could present an option for those who are not able to compete in a direct fight with the doomstack, weakening and disrupting the force if it is too concentrated. I also expect that there is probably no way to teach the AI to use it effectively, so it would be a player tool.

I was thinking if this is possible, either a gravity-well torpedo for damage or a wormhole generator to move the fleets to a random system (with possible hilarity ensuing, or at least a lot of MIA ships)
