Description
Purpose of Change
The game's missions, in the main and original Duke's versions, are treated as good events. Here, they are treated as neutral, as missions can be rewarding with disposition and other benefits, but failure is more painful in terms of faction disposition loss.
Another issue is the inquisition faction being able to mess with player's choices, to the point of forcing an early game-over.
This was partially addressed in 8cd5a34 , with chaos lord becoming more friendly with player becoming renegade.
Solution
Missions from other factions should be remade into opportunities for player, rather than something of a must for player (which damage player disposition upon failure). It should be more an overarching fight for the leadership of humanity.
And the player, has to choose between the "orderkind" versus the "chaoskind", and other potential options in between.
Simply put, nuance should be shown.
Other considerations
The traits should generally be something that makes the player's path more "set in stone", but even then, the player should be able to conduct chapter transformations, especially when losses the chapter suffers are significant.
Player should be able to complete missions for other factions, including chaos, either with awareness that these opportunities further the interests of non-imperial aligned entity, or not. But that, is where the player should start to draw ire of other imperials, if they notice it.
