Error: Thread size is bigger than the body

Is there a specific size the holes need to be? I'm trying to make an M3 x 8mm thread in a hole and I keep getting an error. I've tried making my hole larger with no luck. 

Error: Thread size is bigger than the body. Unable to create hole and thread. Reduce hole/thread size and try again.
