[Linter] Error running PHP

I have installed Atom with the Linter and Linter-php many times but on this computer it's giving me the Linter error popup telling me to look into the console. The error in console shows the right error but instead of a red dot in the left menu it shows the pop up error.
Please help with ideas to fix
