ArcOS 7.0.7 (0b530289)

  • I've begun adding SQLite support into ArcOS
  • Added image thumbnails
  • Added a view menu to the file manager
  • Fixed some bugs related to file progresses in various apps
  • The alt menu will no longer close and then reopen on click if it's already opened
  • Fixed a problem with the arcfetch build number
  • Massive codebase refactors
  • Added an info pane to the file manager

  • Bug reporting has been improved to more easily solve bugs and prevent crashes
  • App store: fixed a bug that wrongfully displayed the blocked state in ManageStoreItem
  • Moved Cod to the Utilities app group
  • Fixed some overflow problems in the bottom bar of the file manager
  • Added SQL syntax highlighting to Cod
  • Improved kernel module integrity checking
  • Improved error handling in ArcOS: app crashes should now crash ArcOS way less
  • Added a more direct way of adding context menus to built-in apps
  • The versions of several external dependencies have been fixated to improve compatibility
  • Added nightly: a locked-down build of ArcOS that compiles at midnight: https://v7.izkuipers.nl/nightly
  • We've been gradually improving the security of ArcOS, now restricting access to the process handler in certain system components.
  • Built-in apps are now all loaded dynamically and on the fly to increase load speeds and decrease bulk unused code
  • App info now shows more in-depth information about first-party (aka built-in) applications
  • Improved the caching of app data to make ArcOS app resolution faster
  • Security settings: added a toggle for the restricting of changes to system folders
  • Fixed some bugs related to the Trash Can
  • Added process info which shows in-depth info of any process
  • Made the login routine more user friendly by hiding verbose login messages by default. These can be turned on from Advanced System Settings
  • The shutdown/restart/logoff screens now match your ArcOS accent color
  • ArcTerm has also seen several bug fixes
  • Fixed several bugs related to file associations, including a bug where file associations were empty for new user accounts
  • Oops notifier now spawns the oops stack tracer as an overlay instead of just a headless window
  • All icons in ArcOS are now dynamic! You can swap out ArcOS' icons with whatever icons you want using the new Icon Editor application.
  • Ported the services GUI from ArcOS v6 to v7! It's been added to the Process Manager.
  • Improved the UI of several system components to match the redesign of ArcOS 7.0.3.
  • The blur of ArcOS glass surfaces can now be changed dynamically from the settings app. (@logangamesdaily)
  • The not-running error message for the trash can virtual page is now properly styled. (@allucat1000)
  • You can now move a window between workspaces from the titlebar context menu
  • Several load operations have been sped up using Promise.all
  • Fixed the desktop icons not properly positioning themselves and generally behaving buggy (@oAnblu)
  • You can now show or hide hidden drives and virtual locations in the file manager (@allucat1000)
  • You'll now be asked if you want to open a hidden app upon installation instead of being asked to pin it to the taskbar (@allucat1000)
  • Removed the Reset desktop icon positions option from the desktop because it did not work properly and could not be fixed in time

  • The Manage Apps settings slide now shows the small grid mode by default (@allucat1000)
  • The search bars of the messages app and app store are now the same (@oAnblu)
  • Re-added the intro text to ArcTerm (@izkuipers, @allucat1000)
  • The app store now has a dedicated page for ArcOS users
  • Fixed several bugs submitted by our users

ArcOS 7.0.7 has been deployed to the servers on September 26th 2025 at 11:07 PM, counting 2145 modules.
