Beacon gets detected even when the battery is removed.

Hi,

I am using your library, and i seem to get an issue where in the beacon manager gets into entry region method and detects the beacon device even when it is not there.. the batteries have been removed. What could be the issue? Please assist.

This also happens with the AprilBeacon-Android-SDK demo.

Yes, true that is, but what i am saying is, the beacon device doesnot have any battery in it, but then it still tell me that the device is detected. Can you please tell me how to accurately determine if the beacon is there or not? Can i use getPower() ? What is it for? I downloaded the app from the play store but it works well in that. How ? Please help

how many beacons are beside you ? you can change the beacon's major and minor , then set the same region to filter others . Test the device is detected or not

@syxdzc I am afraid but i will not be able to do this.. Since the beacons that we have are not the same that the client would be having.. Although they are April beacon only. Is there a way i could use another way?

Does the device detect the beacon device as it is available in the list of devices in the bluetooth section?

the sdk confirm the beacon only by uuid、major、minor
If the uuid major minor is the same
it will discriminate as the same beacon
so if there any other beacons with the same uuid major minor
it will can't discriminate them

you can change the different uuid or major and minor to discriminate them

if the AprilBeacon's hw is above 2.1
when you get beacon object you can use beacon.getPower() to get the battery of the beacon

How do i get the firmware version? So that i can know if its 2.1 or what?

Also, i noticed, if the beacon with the certain mac address is removed from list of bluetooth devices, then it shall not be detected. But then i will not be able to remove the beacon paired devices from bluetooth list , as it might not be the correct approach..

Could you please tell me what getPower will return is the device has power cells in it?

The SDK have the getFWRevision() to get the firmware in AprilBeaconCharacteristics
getPower will return the percent of the battery
like return 87 means 87% of the battery can use

yes but getPower returns 0 can't happen
If device wan no power , it can't be searched
@syxdzc - so if getPower returns 0 then that would mean that the device has got no power right sir?

@syxdzc - can you please guide me how to release the macaddress of the beacon device once the user exits the app ? or the region ?

@syxdzc - hi.. today.. i had the batteries in it, and the getPower method returned 0.. could there be a reason why this happens ? The app on the play store detected 100% correctly.. how does that determine battery level ?

if it has something wrong with getPower it will retrun the default
it was 0

@syxdzc - i have no idea what problem it had :( .. it returned 0 even when the batteries were in working condition.. until i removed the batteries and rubbed them together just like that.. how does the app on play store function? Could i get an idea ? will getMeasured power help ?
