Summary

Replace meeting-centric homepage modules with a Topic-first weekly overview.

Scope

• One section with three independent cards:
  • Worth Watching (topic-driven)
  • Upcoming Meetings (filtered to topics of interest)
  • Recent Topic Updates (new activity/recurrence)

Requirements

• Each card renders independently with resilient empty states.
• Data rules emphasize topics as the primary unit.
• Avoid meeting-only summaries unless tied to topic continuity.

Acceptance criteria

• Home page leads with Topics and continuity signals.
• Cards remain stable with empty or partial data.

Implementation Complete

Replaced the flat meetings#index homepage with a topic-first dashboard at home#index.

What was built

Page layout (top to bottom):

1. Compact intro with search-all-meetings link (no hero)
2. Worth Watching card (amber accent) — active/recurring topics with upcoming agenda appearances or recent highlight signals
3. Recent Signals card (teal accent) — topics with continuity events (resurfaced, deferred, moved bodies, disappeared, newly active) in the last 30 days
4. Upcoming Meetings — next 30 days, grouped by week, with topic tags on each meeting row
5. Recently Completed — past 14 days, same format with outcome badges

Architecture:

• Root route changed to home#index; /meetings stays as the full archive with search
• HighlightSignals concern extracted from TopicsController for shared use
• Meeting model gained upcoming, recent, and in_window scopes
• Week-grouping logic with human-readable labels (This Week, Next Week, Last Week, etc.)
• All sections have resilient empty states

Visual design:

• Colored header (dark blue light mode, near-black dark mode) and footer (charcoal) instead of white/surface
• Warm page background (#f5f3ef light, #1a1a1e dark) instead of cold blue-gray
• Topic cards have distinct tinted backgrounds (warm cream vs cool ice in light; warm-tinted vs teal-tinted in dark)
• Colored signal badges that match their parent card accent
• Topic tags on meeting rows use teal accent color
• New CSS tokens: --color-accent-warm, --color-accent-cool, --color-header-bg, --color-footer-bg with full light/dark support

Tests: 10 new tests in HomeControllerTest, all passing. No regressions in existing tests.

Current data state (litmus test observations)

• Both topic cards are correctly empty: upcoming meetings lack agenda items/topic links (not yet enriched), and the most recent TopicStatusEvent is 34 days old (just outside the 30-day window)
• Meeting table sections render correctly with 8 upcoming and 10 recent meetings, showing which ones lack topic associations
• This validates the homepage as a live readout of topic system health
