GTK2 is end of life

Not in the foreseeable future. Gtk2 works perfectly well, and it is a lot of work to migrate.

Sure, it works perfectly well, but it is end of life, and will be dropped by most distros at some point.

I just don't have the capacity for significant work on it - I haven't even managed to respond to the latest pull request in a timely manner.
I'd gladly merge a pull request to port to newer GTK, but if someone is capable and keen enough to do the work required for that, they may prefer to take over maintenance too.
