On Runestone, the text of the problem refers to example 4.2.8. I think this is supposed to refer to example 4.2.4. I guess I'm not exactly sure what the relationship is between the version of the text on Runestone and the version hosted on uleth.ca. (Example 4.2.8 does exist in the Runestone version of the book at the moment, but it's the wrong example; no example 4.2.8 exists in the uleth version of the book right now.)

The Runestone version of the book currently refers to Example 4.2.8. The uleth version of the book and the Runestone version of the book have some different material (and, consequently, different numbering) at the moment.

The numbering can be different in different versions, especially if you're looking at one with videos, versus without videos, or the one on Runestone with the PROTEUS exercises.

Within any single version of the book, the exercise should be referencing the example by the correct number.

There are 4 different versions of the book hosted on opentext.uleth.ca, which is why I asked you for the version.

There's official APEX, APEX but with videos, and two versions that are customized to our courses in two different calculus streams.

Runestone has two more versions that are also different.

Rather than going on a wild goose chase, I'm just asking that you tell which one you're looking at.

For example, you might include a URL that points to the problem that I could follow, so I don't have to go digging through 6 different versions of the book.

I'm sorry for frustrating you, Sean. I forgot about the multiple versions of the book! Here is the version of the book I am looking at on opentext.uleth.ca. I confess that I didn't know there were multiple versions of APEX Calculus on Runestone. The one I'm using has videos at the beginning of sections. The date in the front matter is 18 October 2025. I am fairly sure this is the non-PROTEUS version.

Ok, I'm not seeing any problems with that version of the book.

It's the non-video version. Since some videos are placed in figures, that changes the numbering.

There's more than just a video at the beginning of each section. Most sections have 6 or 7 videos.

For the version you linked to, the example is numbered 4.2.4, and the exercise below references that number correctly.

The version with videos has numbering that should agree with what you see on Runestone.

But there I do see an error. The exercise is still referencing Example 4.2.4, but it should reference 4.2.6.

I can probably guess what went wrong: both versions of the book are using the same WeBWorK representations file, and it didn't get rebuilt between building one version of the book and another.
