Have you considered making rip3 a paid service? I was using it for downloading good rips that I dont have time to find myself. I would be willing to pay for this service, and I bet others would also pay some amount too.

It looks like you are going to go the java app approach - you should look into adding DHT support maybe from something like this: http://tomp2p.net/ and then you wont need a server ;)

Yes it probably could be solved with more money, such as with a paid service (private server), but I have doubts that he would like to have the service in that way.

Well with the client side approach there is never a need for a server, so I'm not sure how much of an advantage having p2p would be.
