Possible to get an example with out JSQMessagesViewController?

Hi great library and the only thing I can find that meets what I need. 

I am trying to get it working on a textview like a Facebook status view but I am having difficulty implementing with the code provided. What exactly is a container view and how do I marry it to my textview?
